Fire Headquarters
Fire Headquarters, located at 1100 Marlkress Road and adjoined to Fire Station 3, was built in 2009/2010 to replace our Fire Administration Building on Burnt Mill Road and expand and update the quarters of the company firefighters, EMTs, and Battalion Chief. The construction of this site and subsequent relocation of all of our administrative staff and support Divisions allowed the Fire Department to reduce its facilities by one and significantly decrease the maintenance costs with the new construction, complete with energy-efficient lighting, utilities and appliances.
The building as a whole is a shared Operations and Training facility, and serves as administrative headquarters for the Cherry Hill Fire Department.
Administrative Headquarters – Fire Headquarters
The second floor of the building houses the Office of the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal’s Office, Management Support, Community Risk Reduction, Facilities & Procurement and Training & Safety Division. On the first floor there are three classrooms utilized for training and other CHFD-sponsored programs, and double as meeting space for our Board of Fire Commissioners. These rooms also provide space for any programs affiliated with surrounding governmental agencies and emergency services organizations, as well.
Training Facilities
The Training & Safety Division, has the use of three sizable classrooms, along with operational training grounds behind the main building, to accommodate our field force in the pursuit of extensive specialized preparation of both firefighters and EMTs, and overall training excellence. See more about our Training & Safety Division.
Operational Use
The Field Command Office and EMS Officers are both located on the first floor of Fire Headquarters. They provide field-level supervision to on-duty firefighters and EMTs, as well as incident response to high-priority calls. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is also located on the first floor, and is utilized in times of large-scale emergency events, such as natural disasters, used not only by the Fire Department, but also by Cherry Hill Police, Cherry Hill Township, and Public Works. The adjoining building houses the on-duty Station 3 firefighters and assigned EMTs.
