OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM MAYOR CHUCK CAHN AND TOWNSHIP COUNCIL IN RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT TRUMP’S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT
"We stand united with cities and towns across the U.S. in condemning the reckless, irresponsible decision to pull the United States out of the Paris Agreement on climate change. As leaders of Cherry Hill, we will remain steadfast in our commitment to fight climate change and protect the health and well-being of Cherry Hill residents today and for generations to come.
Just yesterday, we submitted the Township’s Sustainable New Jersey Silver Recertification application, a prestigious designation for municipal governments in New Jersey that we have received for the past seven years. Municipalities that achieve the certification are considered the State leaders in building a greener, more sustainable future.
From our robust recycling program, to our Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, to our vast network of parks and trails, to our pedestrian and bike master plan, to our purchase of green products, to our use of solar energy on our municipal properties, to our support of local businesses, we will continue to work and find ways to minimize our impact on the environment and build a clean, healthy community.
We will be formalizing our position on this issue at the next Council Meeting and sending it to our Congressional representatives."
