[ARCHIVED] Cherry Hill Town Hall lights up in support of Ukraine

Ukraine Lights Horiztonal

Mayor Susan Shin Angulo, Township Council President David Fleisher and the Cherry Hill Human Relations Advisory Committee announced the Cherry Hill Municipal Building is now illuminated with blue and yellow lights at night in support of Ukraine and the country’s brave fight to defend freedom and democracy.

The LED lights will shine from dusk to 11 p.m. as a symbol of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian-Americans who live, work and worship in Cherry Hill.

In a joint statement, Mayor Angulo and Township Council said: “When we look at the many city halls, skyscrapers, bridges and stadiums across the world proudly shining the colors of the Ukrainian flag,  it sends a powerful collective message: We stand with Ukraine. It is important for Cherry Hill, a diverse and inclusive community that is proudly home to many Ukrainian-Americans, to join in that message.”

As representatives of the Human Relations Advisory Committee — an advisory group for the Mayor and Council that celebrates diversity and promotes respect for the human and civil rights of all Cherry Hill residents, business owners and visitors — Councilwomen Sangeeta Doshi and Michele Golkow added: “An attack on human rights anywhere is an attack on human rights everywhere. It’s vital that we stand up for the values the Human Relations Advisory Committee was created to protect and add our voices to the fight against this brutal war and dire humanitarian crisis.”
