[ARCHIVED] Letter from Mayor Angulo Regarding Route 70 Project

Dear Neighbor,

I hope this letter finds you well and you are enjoying your summer.

I want to provide you an update on the ongoing State construction project along the Route 70 corridor that will affect the Barclay community. On Monday, July 24, 2023, R.E. Pierson Construction Company, the contractor for the NJDOT Route 70 Roadway Improvement Project, will begin installation of storm drainage improvements from Sharrowvale Road, at its intersection with Wayland Road, to West Gate Drive and NJSH Route 70.

This pipe network is the revised storm drainage system that was previously designed to be located within the center island of West Gate Drive (requiring island tree removals). At the request of local authorities, this system will now be installed within the inbound/entrance lane from NJSH Route 70 thereby saving all trees within the entrance. Pipe installation on Sharrowvale Road is scheduled for approximately one (1) week with Sharrowvale Road being closed from Wayland Drive to West Gate Drive. Road closures will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this time, West Gate Drive, both inbound and outbound, will remain open with all inbound traffic being directed to Barclay Lane. Following the completion of this pipe installation on Sharrowvale Road, West Gate Drive, from NJSH Route 70 to Sharrowvale Road/Barclay Lane will be closed. Again, road closures will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This installation is expected to take approximately two weeks. Upon the completion of all subsurface installation, concrete curb, sidewalk and roadway restoration is proposed within the limits of disturbance. The project will improve water drainage, driver and pedestrian safety.

Throughout this construction period, I, along with Township Council, will continue to advocate for Barclay and all affected Cherry Hill communities. My goal is to minimize the impact of the construction and provide advanced notification whenever possible. I understand that this construction may cause inconveniences and disruptions to both homeowners and businesses. I remain committed to representing our community's interests as this project progresses.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact the New Jersey Department of Transportation at (609) 963-1989 or you can reach out to my office.

Sincerely,

Mayor Susan Shin Angulo
