[ARCHIVED] Winter Weather

Winter WEather

Township officials and our Police, Fire, Public Works and Emergency Management personnel work hard to ensure that residents and visitors in the Township remain safe during winter weather.  Be sure to check the Township’s website and follow Cherry Hill Township, the Cherry Hill Police Department, and the Cherry Hill Fire Department on Facebook and Twitter for important updates during inclement weather.

Our Public Works Department works hard to make driving safer and easier in snowy weather. Depending on the duration and amount of snowfall, Township trucks may plow your street several times. As snow rolls off our plows, it sometimes accumulates in driveway aprons. Please understand that this is unavoidable and it is the homeowner's responsibility to clear it. Here are a number of important tips and reminders that will help residents stay safe during winter weather, and ensure our emergency crews can work as quickly and effectively as possible.

  • Move all vehicles and other impediments off the street to allow better access for snow plows.
  • Power outages must be reported directly to PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734.
  • All residents should keep extra supplies on hand in the event of power outages or restricted travel.
  • Depending on the duration and amount of snowfall, Township trucks may plow your street several times. If possible, wait until the plows have made three passes on your street before cleaning your driveway.
  • Do not park cars on the street from one hour after the snow has continuously fallen until 12 hours after the snow has stopped. This speeds the removal process and prevents cars from being plowed in.
  • To ensure the safety of pedestrians, residents must remove snow from sidewalks following a snow fall.

For more information, please contact the Department of Public Works at (856) 424-4422.
