Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm Compliance Certification Inspection

When selling a one or two family home in Cherry Hill, you must obtain a Certificate of Smoke Alarm and Carbon Monoxide Detector Compliance CSACMAPFEC 5:70-2.3 (a) prior to the settlement.

  • Please submit your request for inspection 3 to 4 weeks prior to the settlement date.
  • The certificate will be issued at the time of the inspection if the home is compliant and payment is received.
  • CHFD inspection requirements, fees, & diagrams CHECKLIST (PDF) . Fire extinguishers are NO longer required.
  • The home must be prepared for the inspection prior to the appointment.
  • Payment is due at the time of inspection - credit cards, or a check or money order payable to CHFD.
  • Temporary certificates are NOT issued.

Cherry Hill home sellers are also required to obtain a Certificate of Continued Occupancy from the Community Development Department (Property Maintenance), located at 820 Mercer Street, Room 202, prior to the resale of any single-family residential property.
