WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township believe that the men and women of the United States Armed Forces deserve our utmost gratitude and respect, and that the decision to enlist in military service is a brave, noble and commendable action; and
WHEREAS we also recognize that military service is not always an easy decision, and that it is one that carries with it great risk for our young men and women, who make a conscious decision to put their own lives on the line in service to our nation and our national security; and
WHEREAS today, our Community Salutes of South Jersey will hold its 8th annual Our Community Salutes Ceremony to honor and thank those individuals who have chosen to serve our great nation as a member of the Armed Forces after graduation; and
WHEREAS OCS was founded in 2009 by educator and former U.S. Army officer Dr. Kenneth Hartman, a Cherry Hill resident and former Cherry Hill Board of Education member; and
WHEREAS we wish to thank Dr. Hartman for his initiative and vision in creating an organization dedicated to honoring these young men and women and their families; and
WHEREAS we are proud to join with Our Community Salutes in offering our sincerest thanks to all of this year’s high school enlistees from across Southern New Jersey, in wishing them good health and safety throughout the course of their service to the United States, and in expressing our deepest gratitude to their families, who share in their children’s service and sacrifice.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, May 17, 2016, to be

in the Township of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and encourage all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in offering our gratitude and unconditional love and support to all of our men and women in uniform, and to their loved ones.
