WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, we gather together to honor Ethel J. David as she celebrates her 100th birthday; and
WHEREAS Ethel lives her life with verve, with a wonderful sense of humor; and
WHEREAS devoted to her Jewish heritage, Ethel is an original member of Congregation Beth El, dating to its days in Camden; and
WHEREAS she was an originator of Jewish Geriatric Housing, serving as the organization’s first president in 1972, and today is a resident of Lions Gate, where she is an active member of the community; and
WHEREAS Ethel is a unique person who has worn many hats in her lifetime, as a published author who continues to write poetry daily, a weight-loss lecturer, and a volunteer at the Penn Museum, where she gave tours on Africa, ancient Israel and Canaan; and
WHEREAS Ethel is an inspiration to all those who know her and the people of Cherry Hill are honored to help recognize and celebrate this milestone in her long and remarkable life.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Thursday, May 19, 2016, to be

in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in wishing Ethel the happiest of birthdays, and in wishing her continued health and happiness in the days, months, and years ahead.
