WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS today, the Cherry Hill Public Schools community has come together to honor Cherry Hill East Student Madeline Bowne for her winning entry in C-SPAN’s StudentCam video documentary competition; and
WHEREAS StudentCam is an annual, national contest that encourages middle- and high-school students to think critically about issues of interest to our communities and country, with this year’s topic centered on the presidential election; and
WHEREAS in all, C-SPAN received more than 2,800 video submissions from 6,000 students in 45 states – and Cherry Hill’s Madeline Bowne emerged as one of 150 student prizes awarded; and
WHEREAS her documentary “When the House Becomes a Home,” focused on the nation’s re-election rate and its impact on governmental effectiveness and voter trends; and
WHEREAS the 7-minute video is truly impressive, and the result was a 2nd-place award; and
WHEREAS Madeline exemplifies the best that our Cherry Hill Public Schools have to offer, and we are proud to join with the community and C-SPAN today in honoring her hard work, vision and achievement.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim May 2, 2016, to be

in the Township of Cherry Hill and do encourage all citizens to join me and the members of Township Council in congratulating Madeline on her achievement, in thanking her for bringing attention to a national issue she felt was critical to our democracy, and in wishing her continued academic success.
