WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy individuals; and
WHEREAS today, we are proud to honor longtime Cherry Hill resident Joan Browning, who has, for the last 50 years, served breakfast to patrons at one of Cherry Hill’s most recognizable landmarks, Ponzio’s Diner; and
WHEREAS “Joanie,” as she is known to many, is the Queen of the Counter, forming a warm bond with her customers, arriving early each day and taking special care to ensure everything is “just right”; and
WHEREAS one measure of Joan’s personal touch is her daily newspaper ritual – stopping at a local convenience store every morning to pick up copies of the newspaper for her regular customers; and
WHEREAS through the years, Joan has treated all of her as if they were family, by serving them quality food along with her good-natured humor and smile; and
WHEREAS while some things have changed at Ponzio’s in the last 50 years, Joan’s commitment to serving the community and her customers in a warm atmosphere has remained the same, and we hope to see her smiling face for many years to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, April 20, 2016, to be
Joan Browning Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Township Council in congratulating Joan on reaching this milestone, and in thanking her for, in her own special and unique way, making Cherry Hill a better, warmer, friendlier and happier place to live, work, play – and dine!
