WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Michael Francis Clemens, a member of Boy Scout Troop 252, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, joining an elite group of young men dedicated to serving and improving the community; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout project, Michael organized and created a book collection for Joyce Kilmer Elementary School, Carusi Middle School and Cherry Hill West High School, and solicited book donations from local businesses and residents in support of the effort; and
WHEREAS the honor of Eagle Scout is bestowed upon approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts annually, making it a truly prestigious achievement; and
WHEREAS the lessons learned and skills acquired while working toward the Eagle Scout rank help promising young men like Michael to develop into leaders who will benefit our world for years to come; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are proud to call Michael one of Cherry Hill’s own, as he exemplifies the values that make our community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Saturday, March 5, 2016, as
Michael Francis Clemens Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Michael and his family on this tremendous achievement.
