WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of the Township of Cherry Hill to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS tonight, Mayor Cahn and Council wish to honor and commend Cherry Hill resident Lorraine Cephus for her continued commitment to physical fitness and healthy activity; and
WHEREAS at the age of 85, Lorraine is a shining example of athleticism, vibrancy and enthusiasm, and a role model for us all; and
WHEREAS an avid runner, Lorraine started a running group with close friends when she and her husband first moved to their home in Kingston more than 40 years ago, and remains dedicated to the sport, participating in the 10-mile Broad Street Run each year since its inception, and is preparing as we speak for the Rock & Roll half marathon in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS Lorraine is a familiar face at her gym, where she works out almost daily, whether cross-training, running or taking part in a spin class – all the while, serving as a friendly face and good friend to those who know her; and
WHEREAS Lorraine’s warm, welcoming demeanor and her zest for life are truly inspirational, and in the spirit of Mayor Chuck Cahn’s Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, Cherry Hill Township wishes to call attention to her remarkable longevity and tireless energy.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, to be
Lorraine Cephus Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Township Council in celebrating Lorraine’s longevity and commitment to staying active and physically fit, and in wishing her continued health and happiness in the months and years to come.
