WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS on Nov. 22, 1965, Claire Bauman was hired as a Crossing Guard in Cherry Hill Township, a post she has faithfully maintained for 50 years; and
WHEREAS beloved by the students, parents, faculty and staff at Horace Mann Elementary School, Claire has come to work every day with a smile on her face, and in all conditions and climates, to ensure the health, well-being and safety of our children; and
WHEREAS school crossing guards hold a special place in our community, working alongside our educators and our police officers to provide an invaluable service; and
WHEREAS crossing guards must have a deep sense of responsibility, strong character, and the dedication necessary to brave the elements day in and day out, and that dedication is amplified by Claire’s remarkable longevity; and
WHEREAS as she begins her 50th school year, we wish to recognize Claire’s service to the Township of Cherry Hill, and to acknowledge the important role she has played in the lives of three generations of school children in this community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, to be

in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in thanking Claire for fifty years of dedicated service to Cherry Hill Township, our schools, and our children.
