WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS the Cherry Hill East Cougars recently completed the most successful season in the history of the high school’s boys basketball program, playing in the Group IV State Title game at Rutgers University on March 15; and
WHEREAS on March 15, 2015, the Cougars’ incredible season culminated in the program’s first-ever appearance in a state title game, facing Paterson-Eastside for the Group IV championship; and
WHEREAS led by Coach Dave Allen and sparked in large part by the stand-out play of players Jake Silpe, Josh Brown and Timmy Perry, the Cougars finished the season with a 26-6 record, and their second consecutive South Jersey title; and
WHEREAS the team’s dominance has been a great source of pride for students, faculty, administration and community members alike all year long, with a busload of supporters in attendance for the title game; and
WHEREAS in recognition of this remarkable 2014-15 run, the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township wish to formally commend the Cougars’ players and coaching staff on a job well done, and we hope to see the team continue its success next season and beyond.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to formally recognize and congratulate the members of the
Cherry Hill East Cougars
on a historic season, and ask members of the community to join with me and the members of Council in celebrating the Cougars’ achievements, and in wishing Coach Allen and all of his players continued success for many seasons to come.
