WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS tonight, we wish to honor Township resident Dan Joffe, a senior at Cherry Hill High School West, for his role in organizing the Township’s 2015 Martin Luther King Day of Service project; and
WHEREAS held on Monday, Jan. 19, the Day of Service resulted in the successful collection of donations for five area charities and nonprofit organizations, as well as the completion of much-needed improvements to our public lands at Croft Farm; and
WHEREAS Dan’s leadership and initiative in the weeks leading up to the event were key to its success, as he helped coordinate participation by Cherry Hill West and other schools, and facilitated important contact between the Township and the designated charities; and
WHEREAS an untold number of families and animals in our area will directly benefit from Dan’s efforts, and the efforts of all those who came together on Martin Luther King Day as a result of his actions; and.
WHEREAS Dan has set a wonderful example for Cherry Hill’s youth, and for all of us, and we are proud to honor and thank him for his work to make Cherry Hill a better, stronger place to live, work and play.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, February 9, 2015, to be
Dan Joffe Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in thanking Dan for his important contributions to our 2015 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, and in wishing him all the best as he continues his studies at Cherry Hill West and beyond.
