Our region is preparing for another outbreak of bitter, dangerously low temperatures that are expected to remain in the forecast through Friday, Feb. 20.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday night will be cold, with overnight lows in the single digits to teens. The coldest weather is in store Thursday into Friday, when the overnight low could dip to -18 degrees with the wind chill.
Such extreme temperatures present significant health and safety challenges, and the Cherry Hill Office of Emergency Management reminds residents to be prepared and take these potentially dangerous conditions seriously. Heed cold-weather warnings, dress as conditions require, and limit your exposure to the cold.
** Be sure to check frequently on friends and neighbors who are elderly or disabled, or who may live alone and need assistance. Pets should be kept indoors to ensure their safety, as well.
If you or someone you know needs assistance finding a warm place to stay, please contact the Office of Emergency Management at (856) 432-8836; after hours, call Police Dispatch at (856) 665-1200.
Additionally, please be sure to report any icing on the roads to (856) 665-1200. Power outages should be reported to your utility company immediately to ensure they are aware of the outage.

Stay indoors as much as possible. If you must go outside, be sure to dress for the weather – particularly children who are waiting for a school bus or walking to school early in the morning:
• Wear several layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing rather than one layer of heavy clothing.
• Wear mittens, which are warmer than gloves.
• Wear a hat to prevent loss of body heat.
• Cover your mouth with a scarf to protect your lungs.
