WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS the vision of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare youth in America to become responsible, participating citizens and leaders, who are guided by the Scout Oath and Law; and
WHEREAS the designation of Eagle Scout is the highest achievement in the Boy Scouting program and only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this distinguished rank, making it a truly prestigious achievement; and
WHEREAS Jacob Goldsborough, a member of Boy Scout Troop 70, has completed the requirements, and was examined by the Eagle Scout Board of Review, which found him worthy of the rank of Eagle Scout on December 5, 2018;
WHEREAS the Boy Scouts of America encourage Eagle Scout candidates to complete worthy projects to improve their neighborhoods and their communities; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout project, Jacob organized, procured material, and managed the installation of two raised vegetable garden beds for the adult special needs community at the Jewish Federation Center in Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS the lessons learned and skills acquired while working toward the Eagle Scout rank help promising young men like Jacob to develop into leaders who will benefit our world for years to come; and
WHEREAS Jacob serves as an example to the youth of our community through his high level of personal achievement, leadership and community service and has made the Township of Cherry Hill very proud.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Sunday, March 24, 2019 to be
Jacob Goldsborough Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Jacob and his family on this tremendous achievement.
