WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy individuals; and
WHEREAS tonight, we wish to honor and thank Mary Ellen Lane for her extensive environmental volunteer work within our community; and
WHEREAS Mary Ellen’s service to the Cherry Hill Environmental Board, Trail Ambassadors, Trail Programs, and as a Pollinator Garden Steward has had an immense and long-standing impact on our community; and
WHEREAS a devoted volunteer, Mary Ellen assists in all key Board responsibilities; this includes spear-heading environmental outreach and education, contributing hundreds of man hours improving and maintaining Township trails, recruiting volunteers, and finding ways to continue making the Township’s natural environment sustainable; and
WHEREAS Mary Ellen is always willing to assist and participate in improving Cherry Hill’s trails and Open Space and has committed countless hours of her personal time to improving the natural landscape in Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS in addition to her work on the Environmental Board, Mary Ellen is an extraordinarily dedicated and giving individual in other areas of her life; a retired school teacher, she volunteers her time as a part-time math and Bible school teacher, volunteers with outpatient services at Jefferson Hospital, and volunteers at area nursing homes; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township believe that the Cherry Hill Environmental Board plays an integral role in our community, by helping residents understand the importance and beauty of the environment around us, and they acknowledge that the strength and sustainability of this organization is dependent upon the dedication of volunteers like Mary Ellen.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to honor and recognize
Mary Ellen Lane
for her dedicated service to Cherry Hill Township, and the residents of Cherry Hill, and ask all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in thanking Mary Ellen for her role in making our community a better place to live, work and play.
