WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Thomas, a cultural and community landmark for many years, hosts the annual Greek Agora Festival this year beginning from Thursday, October 4, 2018, through Sunday, October 7, 2018; and
WHEREAS what started starting as a small bake sale at the Moorestown Mall has flourished into a widely anticipated regional celebration that draws thousands of visitors from all over the Delaware Valley to experience Greek culture in Cherry Hill Township; and
WHEREAS each year, the sights and smells the annual Greek Agora recalls the ancient Greek marketplace, complete with countless varieties of food, traditional Hellenic dancing, folk songs, and much more; and
WHEREAS Cherry Hill Township is proud to join with the people of St. Thomas and the entire Greek in helping to pass the foundations of this rich and vibrant culture from one generation to the next.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Thursday, October 4, 2018, as
Greek Agora Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in embracing Greek heritage in Cherry Hill and across America, and in celebrating the four-day Greek Agora Festival at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church.
