WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and events; and
WHEREAS tonight marks the 7th Annual Cherry Hill Education Association’s Golden Age Prom, which brings senior citizens within our community together for dinner, dancing, and conversation; and
WHEREAS the Cherry Hill Education Association recognizes that senior citizens have been integral in making Cherry Hill the great community it is today; and
WHEREAS the Golden Age Prom has been a vital part of bringing together senior citizens and getting them involved in the schools; and
WHEREAS the Cherry Hill Education Association (CHEA) represents over 1,000 teachers, secretaries, technology staff, buildings and grounds staff, and custodial staff employed by Cherry Hill Public Schools, the twelfth largest school district in New Jersey and works with the community to promote education initiatives that improve the quality of education for the students in Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS the Cherry Hill Education Association is able to host this annual event by utilizing the Pride in Public Education Grant through the New Jersey Education Association and with the help and service of student volunteers; and
WHEREAS the commitment and extraordinary efforts of Steve Redfearn, President of CHEA, Kim Redfearn, a teacher at Russell Knight Elementary School, and the entire Board of Directors have helped the Association continue to make this event successful each year; and
WHEREAS Mayor Cahn and Township Council are honored to recognize the exemplary efforts of the Cherry Hill Education Association and its Board of Directors; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Friday, April 27, 2018, as
Cherry Hill Education Association “Golden Age Prom” Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the Cherry Hill Education Association for their fundraising efforts and continued support of the School District.
