WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS National Superhero Day, which is observed annually on April 28th, was created in 1995 by Marvel Comics as a day to celebrate superheroes.
WHEREAS National Superhero Day has become a day for honoring all “superheroes,” both real and fictional; and
WHEREAS Batman, Superman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Hulk and Spiderman are just some of the superheroes whose names we recognize. Even though they are fictional, these superheroes are great role models for our children. They serve and protect while fighting evil; and
WHEREAS Our real-life superheroes may not have super powers or wear capes, but they are great role models who serve and protect while fighting evil. Military personnel, police officers, teachers, doctors, firefighters, EMTs, nurses, and veterans are just a few of the heroes who protect us on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS today, family, friends and neighbors will come together for a day of fun and learning and to celebrate the many real-life “superheroes” in our community; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Saturday, April 28, 2018, to be
National Superhero Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in supporting and acknowledging the dedication, skills and daily contributions superheroes make every day within our community, and throughout the United States.
