WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS tonight, we wish to honor David Snyder, one of our community’s most respected leaders, as he moves on from Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council to Executive Director of Maccabi USA; and
WHEREAS through community engagement and outreach, David has been instrumental in promoting respect, understanding, and friendship among the many faiths and cultures in Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS David has been instrumental in building a number of interfaith organizations that serve the South Jersey region, including the Catholic-Jewish Commission, the Jewish Catholic Muslim Dialogue, and the local Jewish Coalition for Literacy program in South Jersey- BookMates; and
WHEREAS David has worked tirelessly to build interfaith relationships within our community through his involvement with the Cherry Hill Religious Leaders Coalition and most recently, becoming an inaugural member of the Mayor’s Human Relations Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS throughout his time at the JCRC, David has been a leader, a friend, and a true inspiration to all of us in Cherry Hill and we can think of few people who have more fully contributed to making our community a better, brighter, and more inclusive place to live, work and raise our families than David Snyder.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Monday, January 22, 2018, to be
David Snyder Day
in Cherry Hill Township, and urge all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in recognizing him for the countless ways in which he has personally worked to improve our community and in wishing him all the best as he begins this next chapter in life.
