WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS the New Jersey State Association of Elks and New Jersey State Daughters of Elks have convened in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, for their Mid-Winter Conference for a sixth consecutive year; and
WHEREAS the Elks are one of the world’s largest benevolent organizations, and have provided more than a century of community service and philanthropic work throughout the state of New Jersey, undertaking significant charitable, educational, cultural and civic endeavors to improve the quality of life for our citizens here in Cherry Hill, and throughout New Jersey; and
WHEREAS furthermore, during their time here in our community, these organizations and their membership help to build our local economy by patronizing local hotels, businesses, restaurants and retail shops, infusing a great deal of capital into Cherry Hill; and
WHEREAS we are pleased and proud to welcome the Elks and Daughters of Elks back into Cherry Hill, and we extend special greetings to the organizations’ presidents, Mr. Gary Baily of the New Jersey State Association of Elks, and Mrs. Gladys H. Brown, of the Daughters of Elks, as we thank them for their continued leadership in support of this wonderful organization.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, to be
Elks Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and encourage all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in welcoming both the New Jersey State Association of Elks and the New Jersey State Daughters of Elks into our community once again for the organization’s Mid-Winter Conference.
