WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS on April 30, 2017, the Cherry Hill community, led by Sustainable Cherry Hill, Cherry Hill Township and Cherry Hill Public Schools, came together to “Love Our Earth” at the 8th annual Sustainable Cherry Hill Earth Festival; and
WHEREAS this daylong celebration of our Earth and all things “green” welcomed more than 5,000 visitors, and featured green vendors, crafters and exhibitors, as well as all 19 of our Cherry Hill Public Schools, making it a true family-friendly celebration of community-wide sustainability; and
WHEREAS each year, the success of the festival hinges entirely on the support of volunteers, beginning with the Executive Board of Sustainable Cherry Hill, all the way down to the individual high school students who give their time throughout the event to ensuring its smooth operation; and
WHEREAS with the Earth Festival’s 8th installment in the books, we wish to formally commend and thank all those involved in bringing our vision to life – including Caren Kaufman and the Executive Board, dozens of hard-working volunteers of all ages, and Festival Producer Brenda Jorett, whose vision, time, dedication and leadership has key to the event’s continued growth and success; and
WHEREAS additionally, we wish to celebrate and memorialize the ongoing partnership between Sustainable Cherry Hill, Cherry Hill Township, and our Cherry Hill Public Schools, to promote environmental education and to create policies and programs that have made Cherry Hill a Sustainability Champion in New Jersey.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill in the County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby recognize and thank the members of
Sustainable Cherry Hill
for their continued support of the Earth Festival, South Jersey’s largest eco-event, and urge all citizens to join us every day in our efforts to Love Our Earth – today and every day – and to recommit ourselves to continuing our work locally to combat the sustainability challenges that persist in our world, to secure a better, healthier and more sustainable world for future generations.
