WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Clayton Jarvis, a member of Boy Scout Troop 170, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, joining an elite group of young men dedicated to serving and improving the community; and
WHEREAS for his Eagle Scout project, Clayton completed a Seeds of Hope project at MD Anderson Cooper Cancer Center; and
WHEREAS as part of the project, Clayton built and installed a wooden gateway for a therapeutic garden which provides a peaceful place for patients to sit; and
WHEREAS the honor of Eagle Scout is bestowed upon approximately 5 percent of all Boy Scouts annually, making it a truly prestigious achievement; and
WHEREAS the lessons learned and skills acquired while working toward the Eagle Scout rank help promising young men like Clayton to develop into leaders who will benefit our world for years to come; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council are proud to call Clayton one of Cherry Hill’s own, as he exemplifies the values that make our community strong.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Friday, June 16, 2017, to be
Clayton Jarvis Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill and do urge all citizens to join with me and Council in recognizing the hard work and commitment required to become an Eagle Scout, and in congratulating Clayton and his family on this tremendous achievement.
