WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Cherry Hill resident and High School West sophomore Brie Leftwich was recently named winner of the Emerging Artists High School Playwriting Competition at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Ct.; and
WHEREAS her original piece, “Apartments,” will be workshopped with members of the University’s professional staff and Theatre Arts Repertory Company this July; and
WHEREAS in just her sophomore year of high school, Brie is already a highly accomplished artist, receiving widespread recognition for her performances with the South Jersey Ballet Theatre, and winning both a West Way Character Education Award and Business Student of the Year Award through West; and
WHEREAS Brie’s talent and commitment are apparent in the quality of her work, and we wish to commend not just her most recent achievement, but her long-term involvement throughout her academic career and within our community; and
WHEREAS Brie is a tremendously bright, motivated and inspirational young women, who serves as an example for her peers, and for young people everywhere, and we are proud to recognize her achievements publicly and officially.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, July 11, 2017, to be
