WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS Feb. 1, 2017, is National Signing Day, one of the most celebrated days in college football, during which some of the nation’s most promising student-athletes commit to their future schools; and
WHEREAS this year, two graduating seniors and stand-out football stars from Cherry Hill High School West have committed to attend two NCAA Division 1 Football schools – Harrison Hand, who will commit to Baylor University, and Lorenzo Hernandez, who will commit to Villanova University; and
WHEREAS Division 1 football teams are among the nation’s most elite programs, and having two players from the same program commit to these schools is a tremendous achievement, and a testament to both the character and quality of the athletes themselves, as well as their high school program; and
WHEREAS in light of these facts, the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township wish to recognize not just the players, but Athletic Director Lou Papa, Lions coach Brian Wright, the entire West football program, and the staff and administration of Cherry Hill High School West in its entirety, for their respective roles in encouraging and fostering growth and excellence within the student population.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby wish to proclaim Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 as
National Signing Day
in the Township of Cherry Hill, and urge all citizens to join with me and the members of Township Council in celebrating a historic season for Cherry Hill West, for the entire Lions football program, and especially for Harrison Hand and Lorenzo Hernandez, as they celebrate a milestone in their own lives.
