WHEREAS it is the intention of the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township to focus attention on noteworthy occasions and individuals; and
WHEREAS on Sunday, May 22, 2016, Temple Emanuel will host a community-wide Expo on Mental Health to educate the public about issues related to mental health; and
WHEREAS mental illness and mental-health struggles of all forms are often invisible, but afflict millions of Americans without regard for age, race, or background, and can be overwhelming for those suffering, and those who love and surround them; and
WHEREAS this Expo is the culmination of efforts by Temple Emanuel and its community partners to establish Cherry Hill as a stigma-free community where those suffering with mental illness can feel safe to seek the help and support they need, and where we shift our focus to community wellness and healing; and
WHEREAS additionally, we hope to provide these individuals and their loved ones with a direct link to important resources and assistance available in our region, and to let them know that, more than anything, they are not alone in their struggles; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of Cherry Hill Township recognize that positive mental health is an integral component of a healthy community at large, and we are proud to stand with Temple Emanuel to make our community one where everyone can feel safe, secure and empowered to find the support they need to live happier, healthier lives.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, CHUCK CAHN, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the Township of Cherry Hill, County of Camden, State of New Jersey, do hereby proudly support

and wish to thank Rabbi Larry Sernovitz and the Temple Emanuel community for their vision and leadership in creating this event, for their work to increase awareness of mental health issues in our public consciousness, and for their ongoing efforts to make Cherry Hill and South Jersey a community where those struggling and their loved ones can find the help they need, and begin to heal their minds, bodies and souls.
