Mission

The Tactical Response Team stands ready to meet the challenges of the future as it develops and advances ever-changing and ever-improving methods of responding to critical incidents. The Tactical Response Team will maintain its core mission of protecting and meeting the needs of the community and law enforcement. The team is comprised of highly trained officers who are tasked with responding to critical incidents where their specific training can be applied.

Training

The Tactical Response Team trains constantly throughout the year both as a single unit and with other law enforcement agencies. The team trains in a multitude of specialized police tactics to include reconnaissance, perimeter training, shield deployment, commercial and high-rise building assaults, rapid deployment and vehicle assaults. Members of the Tactical Response Team are also responsible for instruction at both the police department and county level.

Selection Process

Each team member must go through an extremely competitive selection process. This selection process consists of an officer background review, a physical training test and an interview board. Each phase is weighted, scored and the candidates are selected from this final ranking.
