Cherry Hill has long been a leader in municipal sustainability in New Jersey. A Sustainable Jersey Silver Certified community since 2010, Cherry Hill was among the first towns in the state to adopt its own municipal sustainability plan -- the Roadmap to Our Future (PDF) -- in May 2016. The Roadmap is a living, breathing document that can be updated to meet the needs of our community as it evolves and grows.

In addition to the 2016 Roadmap to Our Future, a Community Energy Plan was developed and releases in January 2024. The Community Energy Plan details strategies for emission reduction in municipal operations and supports community-wide initiatives. The actions and strategies in the plan were developed by the BPU and Sustainable Jersey to guide Municipalities in their energy reduction endeavor. The Community Energy Plan is a fluid document as actions may change due to market changes and program incentives.

Cherry Hill Mayor David Fleisher is dedicated to continuing Cherry Hill's commitment to sustainability, including cultivating the Green Team led by Councilwoman Sangeeta Doshi and Councilwoman Jennifer Apell, to meet the challenges of 2024 and beyond.
